Dr. Ahron Friedberg, M.D.

Ahron Friedberg, M.D., is an eminent psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, author, and educator whose career has been defined by a deep commitment to advancing mental health. He serves as Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, where he has been involved with program development and translational research.
Academic and Editorial Leadership
Dr. Friedberg is the Editor of Academy Forum, published by the American Academy of Psychodynamic Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis, and Book Editor for Psychodynamic Psychiatry. In these positions, he curates leading scholarship, fosters dialogue across disciplines, and helps shape contemporary discourse in the field of mental health.
Clinical Practice and Research
Dr. Friedberg practices in Manhattan, working with individual couples and families. He is also Director of The Park Avenue Center, where he helps professionals meet their various challenges and achieve their goals. At Mount Sinai, he has served as Co-chair of the Psychiatry Advisory Board and has led several major educational initiatives, including the annually nationally recognized Innovations in Psychiatry Symposium.
His clinical research is based in the Department’s Mood and Anxiety Program, with a focus on resilience, stress, and the neurobiological mechanisms that support emotional recovery—areas that bridge psychodynamic insight with contemporary neuroscience.
